PLESSAS TEXTILES S.A. is a 58 year old, vertically integrated industrial company, based in Athens Greece, specializing in the production of Tulle and Net knitted fabrics from synthetic fibers, in every colour imaginable and in various finishings. Today the company is considered one of the world leaders in tulle production.
The Yarn preparation, Warping and Knittting divisions are further supported by modern and highly efficient Dyeing, Finishing, Cutting and Packaging facilities. And it is, exactly these, in-house facilities, that is our biggest strength in order to deliver to markets around the world unique product solutions suited for each customer’s specific needs and local market requirements.

Company History
The company was founded as “ATHENS KNITTING MILLS Ltd” back in 1965, by Mr. Dimitris Plessas, economist and engineer, in order to fill a gap in the local Greek market. The in-house facilities of Yarn Warping, Knitting and especially Dyeing and Finishing allowed the young company to be a success from the beginning. The products ranged from tulle of various qualities and colours at very competitive prices to knitted fabrics for women underwear.
In the late seventies after a major restructuring, the company changed its name to “PLESSAS TEXTILES S.A.” and moved its factory from the urban area of Athens that was situted to a bigger plant in Acharnes, an industrial suburb of Athens. The move was accompanied with extensive modernization of the production facilities together with the decision to focus on the production of tulle and similar net Raschell fabrics, abandoning the already saturated market of women underwear fabrics. Meanwhile the exports of the company started growing steadily together with the local Greek market share.
In the mid eighties the son of the founder, Mr. Dionisis Plessas, joined the company after completing his studies in Management and Mathematics from Imperial College, London. His first task was to fully computerise the company, an on-going process. Almost at the same time, Mr. Anthony Nasibbian, joined the company, as a computer analyst and since then has grown to the position of General Manager, helping with his hard work and expertise. The company continued to grow reaching unsually high market share in the local market and steadily increasing its exports.
In the ninenties, the production facility is moved yet again, to a new industrial location 25km from Athens to Mandra. This was due to the merging of the company in 1990 with “ATTICA GINNING MILLS s.a.”. Mrs. Makri Chariclea, M.Sc. Econs from L.S.E., joined the company as Vice-Presicent of the Board. The new location gave the opportunity to house each process of the production to a separate ground-floor building and resulting to a very modern and functionable plant. The investment in equipment continued, adding to the existing, the biggest stenter in Greece of 4m width, plus a rotary Stork wet printing – flocking line. The opening of the former socialist countries presented new opportunities for export.
In the new century the company expanded in Italy with a successful on-going cooperation with an Italian firm. In 2007 the founder, Mr.Dimitris Plessas, retired, leaving as head of the company his son Dionisis Plessas and Mr. A. Nassibian as General Manager. New very fast knitting machines were added and a new modern dyeing plant was one of the last investments. Meanwhile the building of the knitting facilty was fully air-conditioned to guarantee the fabric quality and the speed of the new machines. In 2008, the third generation of Plessas family, Mr. Dimitris Plessas, joined the company followed in 2011 by his brother Mr. Panagiotis Plessas, both ready to face the future.
In 2023 the company celebrates 58 years of operation, now 90% of export origin.
